At Stonehedge, community is not an idea — it is lived, shared, and sustained.
Founder Stanzin Tsephel returned to Hunder in 2021, stepping away from a career in the social sector to reconnect with the village he calls home. What began as a personal journey has since evolved into a deeply rooted commitment to place and people.
Within the village, he established an artisanal market — a space where local residents can set up and run shops without rent or overheads, enabling livelihoods built on independence.
At the nearby sand dunes, a high-footfall destination, StoneHedge created a free public sanitation facility — addressing a critical need while protecting the fragile landscape.
This philosophy extends to the next generation. Recognising the limited opportunities beyond basic schooling, StoneHedge initiated programmes that nurture both creativity and academic growth.
From music, dance and skating to dedicated academic support, these efforts led to the emergence of The Dunes Kids, who went on to perform on a national stage and receive recognition across the region.
At the same time, focused academic mentorship enabled every participating child to successfully clear the All India Sainik School entrance examinations, opening pathways to some of the country's leading institutions.
Stonehedge has gently supported traditional dance troupes once at risk of fading, allowing them to find their place again within the community.
At the village school, a handful of ukuleles has introduced children to music- opening small, unexpected pathways beyond the familiar.
Alongside this, efforts continue through co-created water systems, youth mentorship, and support for local enterprises, each shaped in collaboration and with care.
At Stonehedge, impact is not declared — it is quietly built, with care,
continuity, and a deep sense of responsibility to the community it belongs to.
